Female Infertility

The most common cause of female infertility is ovulation disorders. Fertilization and pregnancy cannot occur without ovulation (the release of the egg from the ovaries). An ovulation disorder means that ovulation does not occur, or occurs irregularly and infrequently. Infrequent or absent periods are often a sign of ovulation disorder.

Once the specific cause of infertility has been diagnosed, treatment can be planned and administered on an individual basis. The main focus should be on investigating ovulation problems.  If you are over the age of 35, have irregular periods, or have a condition that makes it difficult to conceive, an infertility test can be performed without waiting 1 year.
