What is Food Intolerance?

Food intolerance also referred to as food sensitivity, is the digestive system's adverse reaction to a substance in the food that has been consumed. Symptoms of food intolerance may vary from person to person and from food to food. After consuming a specific food, stomach pain, diarrhea, bloating, and vomiting are some of the common signs of food intolerance. The amount of food consumed affects the severity of food intolerance. Food intolerance can result from various factors, such as consuming an excessive amount of processed foods, illness, and a poor diet.

How to Detect Food Intolerance

Food intolerance, also known as food sensitivity, can vary in terms of the reaction process from person to person. The body can react to the food immediately after consumption, after one hour, the next day, or even two days later. As there is no precise time frame, individuals may unknowingly continue to consume foods they are sensitive to, putting their health at risk. Therefore, if an individual experiences symptoms, they ought to undergo testing promptly to prevent the worsening of their symptoms.
